Richard M. Feldheim is responsible for the direction, oversight and execution of the firm’s business strategy and is the Chairman of the Management Committee for Star Ventures. Recently he acted as the post-petition CEO and President of Mortgages Ltd. and was responsible for its $900MM Arizona loan portfolio. Rich has played a key role in the growth of the shared ownership industry as a pioneer with the Northstar Club, Snowmass Club, and Front Four at Stowe Mountain Lodge. Over the past 30 years he has been involved with numerous other real estate ventures including time share, hotels, condo-hotels, and undeveloped land. He is currently managing the timeshare receivables portfolio for First Cabin Club.
Peter M. Gooding is responsible for all sales methodology and programs for the collections of portfolios and disposition of real estate assets and is a member of the Management Committee for Star Ventures. Mr. Gooding has invested in and developed Arizona land for over 25 years. Following law school Peter joined Balcor American Express as an acquisition underwriter. He served as the Director of Business Development for Bluegreen Corporation (BXG:NYSE) and started its timeshare division where he was directly responsible for the identification, acquisition and development of timeshare resorts in Tennessee and South Carolina. In 1994 he was appointed President of the newly created Western Division of Bluegreen and organized and led the team which acquired, marketed and sold the 6,500 acre Crossroads Ranch in Prescott, AZ and 1,200 acre Mogollon Ranch in Payson, AZ with sales in excess of $48MM. He has acted as an advisor to commercial lenders on distressed and foreclosed assets for clients such as GMAC/ResCap, Bank of America and National Bank of Arizona.
Chris Cannon oversees and manages all offline and online marketing, advertising, public relation and communication programs at Star Ventures. Over his 20-year career, Mr. Cannon has developed marketing and advertising initiatives for Raffles Hotels and Resorts, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Kingdom Hotel Investments, Jupiter Adria, Intrawest, Durango and Kirkwood Mountain Resorts, and Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, among others. Mr. Cannon has managed marketing and creative for national and international projects in locations that include London, Dubai, Crimea (Ukraine), Vietnam, Seychelles, Manila, Croatia, Bora Bora, Canada, and the United States. As well, he was responsible for the marketing and creative deliverables that contributed to $40MM in sales in 1 day for a recent Raffles luxury real estate project in Manila.
Laura Martini is responsible for portfolio identification and business development at Star Ventures. Ms. Martini has been involved in Arizona real estate for 12 years. She was the Sr. Vice President of Mortgages Ltd. when the company was the largest private lender in Arizona. She was responsible for evaluating loan collateral, restructuring problem commercial loans and working with borrowers to develop business solutions. She has originated over $750MM in commercial loans.
Ron Taskey – Managing Director – Sales Management Ron is currently the Managing Partner of Alchemy Travel Collection a luxury Travel Club selling Memberships providing its Members with deeply discounted travel benefits to high-end resorts worldwide. Previously Mr. Taskey was one of three principals of Star Ventures, LLC, a development, sales and marketing company specializing in resort real estate. Mr. Taskey spent three years as Vice President of Sales with Private Retreats Destination Clubs and took the company from $5 million in annual sales to over $140 million in annual sales. Ron has also served as Regional Vice-President of Sales for Fairfield Communities’ Southeast Division. As a 25-year sales management veteran of the vacation ownership industry, Mr. Taskey has been directly involved in the sales and marketing of over $700 million dollars of resort real estate including: Private Retreats Destination Clubs; The Front Four at Stowe in Stowe Vermont (AIG); The acquisition and repositioning of a hotel and golf course in Lake Havasu City, Arizona (Star Ventures); Snowmass Club in Aspen Colorado (Aspen Skiing Company); Club Palmilla in Los Cabos Mexico (Goldman Sachs); and Northstar Club in Lake Tahoe California (Star Ventures).
Charles D. Parker is responsible for analysis and reporting of the loan portfolios, both pre and post acquisition, at Star Ventures. Mr. Parker has specialized in the acquisition and disposition of commercial properties, capitalizing commercial development projects and providing strategic real estate consulting. Since its formation in 1989 his company has brokered transaction in excess of $750MM. Transactions include $220MM sales of The Wigwam Resort and 12,000 acres of land; $42MM sale of the Biltmore Golf Course; $125MM sale of portfolio of office buildings to Opus Development Company; and $210MM sale of Carefree Resorts.
Christine Dempsey oversees management operations and all legal implications involved in the acquisition of loan portfolios and serves on the Management Committee at Star Ventures. Recently she acted as the post-petition COO for Mortgages Ltd., once the largest private lender in Arizona with a $900MM portfolio. Since 1988 Ms. Dempsey’s experience includes real estate acquisition, development and hospitality/golf operations management. Her responsibilities include due diligence for new project acquisitions as well as real estate registration of projects such as the Northstar Club and Front Four at Stowe. She was responsible for all facets of the acquisition of the Nautical Inn and golf course in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
